As Above So Below is an in-situ sculptural installation featuring thousands of Canadian pennies flattened by trains, floating in mid-air like a serpent weaving through the gallery. Beneath it, a black and white enameled steel plate mimicks the sculpture’s shadow.

Born from the artist’s research on dowsing—also known as water witching—this work explores the practice of using a forked stick, metal rods, or a pendulum to locate underground water, minerals, sites, or other hidden elements. It is the third and final piece in her Dowsing Triptych.

Constructed from hand-riveted pre-1997 copper pennies and decarbonized steel, As Above So Below examines dualities—above and below, seen and unseen—capturing the tension between copper’s jewel-like allure and the dark reality of resource extraction, between product and labor, beauty and hidden cost. This piece also reflects on what it means to be Canadian, weaving together histories of colonial land appropriation, mining, the artist's own immigrant experience, and the the legacy of Chinese workers who built the Pacific Railway.
